Thought I'd get down my thoughts about the new Britney Spears album in my first ever blog entry. I won't call this a review because it's rather brief... it's more of a reviewette.
Gimme More
I'd heard this song a million times before so I knew that I liked it. Good choice for a first single.
Piece Of Me
This is one of my favourite songs on the album at the moment. Lyrically it's quite embarrassing (although I've heard that it's supposed to be amusing) but it's a really good track otherwise. I actually love the vocal effects in the chorus.
Radar
I like the song but I think that it would suit Rihanna far better.
Break The Ice
This one's not a standout track.
Heaven On Earth
When I first listened the introduction reminded me of The Human League. I can't hear the similarities so much now. I've read that a lot of people think of this as a Kylie Minogue style song and I'm starting to see what they mean.
Get Naked (I Got A Plan)
Another one of my favourites on the album. Could be a Timbaland track and I'm a big fan of Timbaland's work so I mean that as a compliment. The chorus is one of the best parts and Britney's not even singing...
Freakshow
Not the best track on the album but it sounds like it could be very good to dance to.
Toy Soldier
Britney's voice sounds more child-like than ever in this song but I really like it.
Hot As Ice
I don't listen to this track too often. It's not bad but it doesn't do much for me.
Ooh Ooh Baby
This sounds a bit like a filler track and the verses are structured a lot like the verses in Happy Together by The Turtles.
Perfect Lover
The second song on the album to sound like Timbaland's work and I love it. I could imagine this song working for Justin Timberlake as well.
Why Should I Be Sad
I knew instantly that this was the work of Pharrell Williams. It's not a favourite but it's a pleasant song and it ends the album very well.
