- Description:
Eyelight Productions recently tested their creative skills against the tightest of deadlines when they signed up for Videomarathon 2009. Videomarathon is a Scandinavian contest that challenges contestants to create a short film, from concept to completion, within just 48 hours.
The theme that all participants had to follow, which this year was Scapegoat, was revealed on the Videomarathon website on Friday 2nd October at 12. 00 noon. Wishing to keep away from pretentious, deep subjects that many short film competition entries lean towards, the guys at Eyelight Productions decided to create a non-verbal physical comedy inspired by old slapstick movies.
Enrolling the abilities of two established actors, a nine year old boy and the tallest man in Denmark, the team immediately embarked on a 6 hour shoot for a script with only a beginning and an end! The middle parts of the plot line were figured out as they went along, and the shoot finally ended at 1am the following morning. Editing, colour grading, title graphics and sound were all completed the next day and despite producer/director Kasper V. Kristensen reservations that the film is not totally perfect, he was pleased with the final outcome. All in all I am pretty happy with the result we came up with within the 48 given hours, starting from absolute zero Kristensen stated. Eyelights Scapegoat was picked out from 260 other short films as the Danish winner of the Videomarathon 2009.
