Stereophonics are an indie rock band from Wales with members Kelly Jones, Richard Jones and Javier Weyler. Kelly and Richard grew up together in Cwmaman, South Wales. Kelly and Richard, along with original drummer, Stuart Cable began writing and performing in working mens clubs together in 1992 as a teenage cover band. The band signed to Richard Branson's newley formed record label V2 in May 1996 being the first artists on the label. The band released their first studio album, 'Word gets Around' in August 1997. This was followed up by a successful world tour and in February, 1998 Stereophonics received a BRIT Award for the Best new Group. The band have gone onto have great success, they are a great live band who love performing and and have toured extensively. To celebrate their success the band released a compilation album of tracks from their previous six studio albums 'Decade In The Sun: The Best Of Stereophonics (Nov 2008)
